Mt. Kenya National Park

Duration: 1 Night
BOOK NOW

Many climbers agree that Mt. Kenya is just as interesting a climb as Kilimanjaro. Although it’s not the highest mountain peak in Africa, it still allows you to enjoy a breathtaking, awe inspiring mountain summit – all without leaving Kenya!

This mountain climbing adventure is ideal to the first time climbers as you’ll be safe in the hands of our experienced guides all the way up to the peak.  At the foot of Mt. Kenya, you can get a first-hand close up view of the herds. Animals such as elephants, rhinos, buffalo and other wildlife animals.

The Aberdare Forest

Another breathtaking adventure that you’ll have the opportunity to experience, within the vicinity of Mt. Kenya, is the Aberdare Forest. The Aberdare is the third highest mountain peak in Kenya at over 4000 meters.

Its massive mountain ranges are known for their prolific game and thick forests. Its high altitude forests are broken by plains and moorlands. Beneath the abundant tree canopy lies the magnificent views of Mt. Kenya Peak and the Rift Valley.

The Aberdare Forest is home to vast wildlife. Large herds of buffalo and elephant roam freely and quietly within the cover of thick vegetation. Dominating the canopy overhead are the more vocal inhabitants of the forest – the birds and colobus monkeys.

Night time in Aberdares is equally unforgettable, as you can see elephant herds surround the waterholes to drink water before fading away into the dark forest.Likewise, you can also watch as the rhinos appear around the waterhole to hydrate themselves.

In Aberdare Forest tour, visitors can go on tour by vehicle or on foot, trekking trails throughout the forest, to the moorlands. The foothills are ideal for exploring on horseback. The Aberdares also hides the best waterfalls on the planet and crystal clear mountain streams.

Serena Mountain Lodge

While on the Mt. Kenya leg of our Great Migration Safari, you’ll be lodging at the Serena Mountain Lodge. One of the things that often surprises many guests, upon arriving at the hotel is that it’s a hotel built into the trees.

You really have to see it to experience the full magnitude of it.
